Two options: 1. Without an exam by the commission-shall file an application showing that he/she is currently licensed as a home inspector after written exam by an organization approved by the commission and have a minimum of one year of experience as a home inspector under the direction of a licensed home inspector or have perfomed a minimum of fifty residential inspections. Option 2: With an exam by commission-show proof of 50 home inspections 0r minimum one year under home inspector or have successfully completed a formal course of training-than an applicant shall be entitled to take the home inspector licensing exam as prescribed by the commissionSouth Carolina Licensure (Title 40, Chapter 59, Article 3) enacted in 1996
South Carolina law requires any person desiring to be a licensed home inspector to file with the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission. A home inspector must show to the satisfaction of the Commission that he is currently certified as a home inspector by an organization recognized by the Commission, that he has a minimum of one year of experience as a home inspector under the supervision of a licensed inspector, and that he has performed a minimum of fifty residential inspections.
