First Conference

With the Standard of Practice released, ASHI felt that it's next endeavor should be education. The feeling was that it was ASHI's duty to provide its member with the knowledge and expertise, so they were able to adhere to Standard of Practice correctly. It was decided that ASHI would host a seminar, as it would be a great opportunity for members across the nation to all meet together for the first time. For the educational portion, ASHI looked internally, calling upon different members to lead the sessions on topics of which topics they were experts.

The first ASHI conference attracted members that represented almost 100 different home inspection companies. With the speakers leading the educational sessions, many attendees participated in the discussion to share the knowledge they had garnered over the years between sessions. The sense of camaraderie among the member grew even stronger. For many of the attendees, this was the first time they had a chance to meet with a fellow home inspector. They were eager to swap stories, trade tips and techniques, and commiserate the struggles that they had faced along the way. Not only was this a strong first step for ASHI's educational efforts, but also marks the first gathering of the ASHI Community.

After the conference, members returned home and began to create regional chapters. The goal was to continue the education and community efforts, to gain more members and make these opportunities to more accessible.
